RE: Old E
I havent with this Olde powder but I do with the KIK. Back when we had the other primer shortage a few years ago when I was looking for primers I found some Wolf and I got 6000 and they have some good showings but they are a little large in diameter and wear the primer pockets so I only use them in the pockets that are getting loose. Yes I also use pistol primers but with those I punch then through a .012" art poster ( the pretty bright fluorescent type Smile ) wad to seat then flush with the case head.

RE: Old E
Don it might be worth a try to calm down the ES.

RE: Old E
I just ran some 2f thru the 38-40, 4 1/2 bisley clone, 32grs with the rcbs bullet, chrono 20 f from the muzzle for an average of 960fps... Ran 50 rounds the gun never tied up.. the last 10 rounds were a bit slower than the first 15.
LUMPY this 2f might just be your huckleberry..

RE: Old E
Yeh he did use the 44, but we'll have to see if he'll tell us for sure, but I do think he ran a 45 xx as well.
This stuff is abit faster than 3f express over the chrono, and a bunch cleaner, for what you do I think a case of 2f would serve you well.

RE: Old E
All my work has been with the .44-100 st.it holds the same amount as the .45-2.4. just a longer skinnier bullet of the same weight Smile

Used some pistol primers with a .012 wad in the primer pocket today Don the ES did not get any better, it was 40 fps today but the group is a 3/4" 5 shot.
You need to extent the range. If I sneak out over the plowed corn field I would sink in up to my knees in mud putting a target up.
