Old E - Don McDowell - 03-19-2013 Got a call from Powder Inc. a little bit ago, and they expect to have some of the new Old E from Goex tomorrow, and are planning to ship the 5 lbs of 1.5 maybe by friday. So looks like I'll have something new to play with in about 10 days. RE: Old E - Brownie Nash - 03-19-2013 Don Keep us posted when you get some testing done. Inquiring minds need to know. Brownie RE: Old E - Don McDowell - 03-19-2013 Will do Brownie, I am curious as to what this stuff is going to be. RE: Old E - Brownie Nash - 03-19-2013 Don I know testing this time of year a person has to wait on mother nature to cooperate. So when you get some and give it a look, give us a visual report compared to swiss, kik, and others. Brownie RE: Old E - Don McDowell - 03-19-2013 I don't have any Swiss, I do have Schuetzen, Goex and even a bit of Elephant. I'm really guessing this is going to be not much more than Express relabeled, and screened to the smaller size of the Swiss and Schuetzen. RE: Old E - Kurt - 03-20-2013 Don. This powder has to really be good before I switch again. When the exp powder and the cartridge was discontinued I gathered up all the powder that is available and did some serious shooting to see what worked best. The Swiss and KIK won out in the end and the final results was KIK because when the barrel or weather got hot the fouling got out of control using the swiss unless I wiped the bore between every shot, the blow tube would not work with the swiss. besides the extra cost of the Swiss over KIK also is a factor for me as much as I shoot. Dick Savage just shot a 5 shot group with his Hepburn using 2F KIK and shot a 5 shot group that yielded a 1/2" nice round group and I have shot several 10 shot + groups with the .44-90 bn and the new .44-100 ST that were 1-3/4 and less at 200 yards. It will be tough to get me to switch. But I will get some. Kurt RE: Old E - Don McDowell - 03-20-2013 Kurt I'm like you , this stuff is going to have to be dang good to get me to switch from KIK. But just in the name of honesty and fairness I thought I should give it a try. I also don't necessarily trust Hogdons to keep it around. RE: Old E - Don McDowell - 03-21-2013 Got my invoice, UPS says they're figuring on delivering on Tuesday. I did get ahold of Jerry yesterday, before they shipped and had him send 2 lbs of the 2f and 3 of the 1.5. RE: Old E - Lumpy Grits - 03-21-2013 Look forward to your findings on this powder. What was the per lb. cost? Gary RE: Old E - Don McDowell - 03-21-2013 5 lb. lot: $24.60 per lb. 10 lb. lot: $19.40 per lb. 25 or 50 lb. lot: $16.00 per lb. Price includes shipping and hazmat fee. |
