RE: Old E
Get Steve Brooks to cut a copy of a Lyman Postell that will fit that rifle, and you will have a bullet that will stay together to 1k yards. If it will shoot up close, you'll be home free.

Fantastic shooting, btw. Shoot straight, rdnck.

RE: Old E
Kurt--Brooks made me a paper patch bullet with the Postell nose that fits my bull barrel 45-90. This rifle has a chamber that is .474 at the case mouth and it will not accept a grease groove bullet. This paper patch bullet is .435 diameter and weighs 535 grains. It definitely stays together at 1k. Several years ago I put 10 shots into 7 1/2 inches on a steel Creedmoor target at a lasered 725 yards with it . The Postell nose shape definitely works all the way across. Shoot straight, rdnck.

RE: Old E
Bill I have a greaser postell Steve cut for me for the .44-90 bn and it is a very good shooter. A postell is a tough bullet to beat.

RE: Old E
It won't go off when placed on an anvil and swatted with a 3 lb hammer.
It will however go off quite easily in the pan of a flintlock, and when it does it omits a touch of " odor" not much but you can smell it.

RE: Old E
I agree with Bill on the Lyman Postell nose, damn good bullet flight.

As for the Old E, hell will freeze over before I shoot a Goex/Hogden powder. I have personal reasons, nothing against the powder itself. It is probably good stuff.

It sounds like a fast bp sub from what ya'll are saying.

Nice group Kurt.

Best, DB

RE: Old E
Bruce,

The last batch I shot I used Br-2 seated using the Hornady hand priming tool.

RE: Old E
Not with this stuff, but it sure makes KIK and the Goex Express uniform.
