RE: Too cold to shoot?
Gussy,
That snow is starting to look a bit deep! We have been getting snow just about every day lately, but it's not been a real dumper yet just 1 to 3 inches at a time. It still has to be cleaned up every day and that slows down everything else.

I’ve been scratching my itch to shoot by shooting 22 rifle offhand from my shop window which is conveniently located next to the wood stove.
My shooting bench looks just like Gussy’s. I still stand cold pretty well but cold and wet never has played well! I’m realizing that I’m certainly not as tough as I once was.
A new Hepburn sounds pretty cool! I know a guy who shoots one!

Dang Gussy! Hope you have a good pair of snowshoes! You’ll get plenty of good exercise and warm up too, while you’re marching back and forth to your 200 yard target.
Jim it looks like you’re winning the Wisconsin most snow contest! Of course it’s cheating being that close to the UP!

Can't build a shack. I actually had a nice one there. Trees grew up and blocked my view down range. I move that bench to the center of my driveway to shoot. Only get 1 hundred yards on paper targets and I have gongs at 300, 400, 500. Even those are getting blocked but I can be "trim" the big pine trees with my 222! Pines are on a very steep slope and 60-80 ft tall.

Kurt,
The door is open to let the air that is warming up in to the shack! The air inside is always behind in warming up unless the sun shines. I kind of sort of remember what the sun looks like!
The window is open when I'm shooting anyway and the cold north wind is blowing in right on me. If the sun comes out it will warm up inside some with the door and window closed, but the trees do offer plenty of shade so it doesn't get too warm inside.

I am not shooting till it gets to at least 35 degrees. Other wise it just is not that much fun.. Semtav should agree with me as he is in my area..
Last year I was spoiled with good shooting days all winter for the most part. This year when it got cold it just stayed cold... getting tired of it.. I just want some positive numbers over night for a start..
