Paper Patch Bullet for 44-77
Well my 44-77 Rolling Block project is coming together. I’d like to shoot pp bullets and would like to get some recommendations for style and mold maker. The barrel is a Green Mountain with bore dia .436 and groove of .448. Mostly will be doing target and long range shooting and occasional hunting.

John what's the ROT?

John that sounds like a awful deep groove at .436/.448

i think most ppb folks prefer shallow barrel grooves, like .004" - works fer me.

I found those measurements online. I’ll have to call GM and check and measure the barrel I have.

For target and the like I prefer a bullet at .434-.435 diameter, length in the
Shiloh's at 1.3 or just under. Your GM barrel should let you go out to 1.35 or 1.4 with no problem.
For hunting and some target work I have a dual diameter bullet from Brooks that is .436 on the base and around .432 on the nose.

I checked the Shiloh website and their 44 barrels have those same measurements.

John those dimensions are more in the muzzle loader barrels.
Don't go deeper then .004" My best shooting barrels have a .003" deep groove.
With the 17 rot a elliptical will work fine. Rick at KAL up in Canada made a .432" X 1.460" long that drops out at 504 gr that is the best shooting bullet for my 1/17 ROT Krieger barrel. I use it for the .44-75 Ballard and the .44-100 Rem st also in the 19 rot .44-90 BN Shiloh.

John all my .44 Shiloh .44's have a .438/.446 bore/groove. It must be a misprint.
