RE: Period correct '74 Sharps Buffalo Rifles?
Thanks for that Kurt, and the kind offer on a mould loan, I read either yourself or Don saying a 1.229" bullet was the original length bullet pulled from a Sharps factory 44-77 Creedmoor round, if I can get 460 to 480 grains at 1.229" I should be plenty good to go for hunting with the 44-77.

A big Waterbuck in Africa is on the list, along with a nice Gemsbok bull to go with my cow, a Warthog would be nice too, don't see any of these listed animals giving the 44-77 a hard time provided I place the shots right.

An adjustable mould may be quite a bit above my current pay scale ;]

What's the bore and groove of Shiloh 44 cal barrels? .438-446"?

Don, the third from the right round nosed paper patch bullet looks like a real killer, I haven't shot any game with a round nose bullet, but surely like the flat meplat for hunting, would the mentioned bullet with about a 200 thou meplat be okay?

Great, Thanks Don, will a 44-77 case with .087" rim thickness fit a new Shiloh?

That might be a bit thick for the shiloh chamber.
Altho if you could lay in a supply of cases with that rim thickness, Kirk could probably chamber it accordingly.

Glad to help. One more thing if you go that 44-77 route ask them to use the reamer with the 7 degree lead built in to it.

My Jamison rims for the 77 run .075" Just send them a case or two and they will set the headspace for those cases.
Before Jamison I used Bell .44 basic brass and those rimes ran from .082 to .084" and at that time Shiloh cut the rim reses at .078" even that was no problem. The close once I just figure 8 them on some 220 grid sand paper or if I had a lot of new cases I used the lathe and re cut the primer pockets either for rifle primers or pistol primers.

Jamison's brass was built to chamber drawing specs Kirk sent them for several different cartridges.
