Darn Kurt, sorry to hear that but it's good the problem has been found before it could get worse. Prayers with you to get it fixed and back on the line!

TNX. Guys.

Well I guess the 82 years are catching up. Never had these problems jumping out of airplanes or sliding off roofs. Big Grin

Nice out, in the mid 40 low winds 10 mph with the sun shining for a change so I'm off to the range and fire the last 60 .38-50 cases formed incase I get shut down in a couple days for a spell.

Very sorry to hear of your back problems Kurt. Hopefully a 'sawbones' can impart some level of relief to keep you in the game for quite a few years yet. Best wishes
to you for some respite to the discomfort. Fingers crossed we'll still see you in June but take care of yourself firstly.

Gavin.

I shot mine yesterday. Had some major fouling issues that I had not had in the past and accuracy wasn’t good. I went back out today and things were much better. I switched my baco wipers out for some brushes and that seemed to do the trick. I will get some ammo loaded and shoot at friendship in a weeks time so we will see how it goes.

Kurt…. You take care of yourself!!

Ian,
Kenny said you must check for carbon buildup if you are not using MPRO7 for wiping
OTOH, perhaps your use of brushes may have done the trick to get ahead of the carbon buildup

Ian,
I have good days and bad days. For me it's the light and how well I define the target.

The last trip to the range I just held 3" for 5 rounds with the best. But I was using different loads and cases I wanted to shoot again for the final forming.
Now when I feed a bullet they have the same friction feel so I think the necks are blown fully and the powder charge is the same depth down from the case mouth if I dump the powder from the pan consistent through the tube.
I found the neck tension is critical with this caliber for some reason.
I have 96 rounds loaded with the last of my 1.5 Swiss that has shot so well. That is enough for one match.
I hope I can make my first match sometime in may but this depends on the work they have to do on my back.
Maybe if all goes well again I can shoot prone again. Tough shooting sitting on a stool when the winds push you around.

Hold tight at Friendship and post your thoughts shooting the .38. I hope the rams all lay down for you.

Kurt

When I shot yesterday the humidity was very low for my part of the country. 20% range. I didn’t realize that until I got home. I was using the baco wipers and the mpro actually. The chaser patch would come out almost black and cleaning between strings of fire the first few patches would have some hard fouling on them. Today I went used brushes with 2 felts and the baco squeegee and the napa 10:1 mix. Chaser patch was coming out almost white and the cleaning between strings the first patch was pretty much clean. I also might have discovered that it might like HDPE much better than LDPE. Can’t verify that until next weekend at the match. I will use the brushes and the HDPE with 64 grains of 1.5. That seems to be doing the best right now

Is shot this today. 12 rounds with HDPE wads and 3 with the LDPE

I tried to upload the rest of the LDPE targets but suffice it to say they are about 2moa

I think the harder wads like the HDPE or a good hard wad cut from gasket material will actually scrape the bore.
I usually run two tight wet and one dry and the dry patch is almost clean.
A thought came to me just now. Big Grin I been burning my $8.00 and $13.00 a thousand primers up forming the brass. Wonder what the accuracy will be when I switch to new primers ? Big Grin
Those CCI 250 Mag primers don't word to bad in this little caliber.
