RE: Forming Cases and other things
TNX. Sam.
When I watched the Doc push that end scope up my nose to get to the vocal cords on the monitor I thought, man what a good bore scope that would make.

RE: Forming Cases and other things
Sam,
I have no idea what the composition of the powder coating is but I know how it's applied using a magnetic field ??
When I need a larger diameter bullet I put a diamond knurl on them. I put the knurl at the base if I feel I need a duel diameter to see if there is an advantage with them or the whole shank to patch over to over groove diameter I like to use for brach seating. Also for my tight chambers that will not except a groove diameter bullet I just place the knurl a little farther up on the shank so only the patched portion is in the case mouth.
When that bullet clears the muzzle the knurl is smooth so there is no wind friction.
A knurl will increase the bullet diameter .015" depending on how I set the amount the rollers penetrate the bullet or the diamond roller I use. I van make a .44 into a .45 bullet pretty easy.

LOL, just don't shoot them during dry conditions with that red tip and the sone white paper someone will think your a fire bug LOL especially if they see a red tip and a aluminum color under the red they might think your shooting incendiary tracers
Yes the tool has a depth stop.

RE: Forming Cases and other things
Got to checking some on the 45-70 case I fired in the 44-77 chamber. It looks like it got about .025" or so shorter, it also blew out a bit more than the once fired 44-77 cases do. I judge this by the case holders I made for a Wilson case trimmer. The first one I made came out a wee bit big yet it fits the rem nickle case just fine but is too big for the 44 case. So I am thinking the 45 cases are a lot thinner then the Jameson 44 cases. I guess thats not really a bad thing in the long run. The pic shows the 44-60, formed 45-70 and a fired 44-77 case.

RE: Forming Cases and other things
It really surprises me that the case did not split and the bases filled out as well. Looking at them I would say they sure look good or is it because of the dark background ?
