What i like about useing 209 is i can use 33 grains ,a .060 wad and the money bullet and i dont have to use a filler. on cleaning , i do clean after shooting or at least the next day. They do have a 209 cleaner that cleans very well in about 5 patches.

Hi Don, I'm late to this dance but I do use 209, but not in a cartridge rifle. I use it in my Encore muzzle loader. It works very well in that application. I can get several shots before I have to worry about hard loading. It gives excellent performance and accuracy as well. The deer don't seem to like is as well as I do!

RE: Blackhorn 209
I'm in the dark about the 209 powder. Are the weight amounts per caliber about the same as Goex or Swiss? Hows the velocity, fouling, compressed loads ,etc.?
I don't guess it'd be around if there wasn't some use for it other than Mzldr stuff.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

RE: Blackhorn 209
Jim it's a sub, so it weighs about 70% of the same charge of bp. It looks a gawd awful lot like 5744, and sort of smells like it, but it does give a nice cloud of blue smoke. There is no fouling, it's much like smokeless in that reguard, you could shoot it all day and unless you started pulling lead there's nothing going to stop it.
Haven't chronold the stuff, but it is a bit harder into the footfeet than black, and the charges I was shooting today, the recoil was up...
