Gavin I will pack a couple cans of 1.5 and 2F so you can play a little longer and some diapered projectiles Smile If I make it I will be in the Gypsy Wagon and the gray Ghost will be there too Tongue

The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

Gavin, with respect to energy, a case full of OE 1.5 gives me more velocity than a case full of Swiss 1.5 by a reasonable margin. It's fluffy so you won't be able to get as much weight in the case, but you'll get velocity alright.

The other day I was shooting my Shiloh LRE in .45-70 with the 34" barrel using the BACO 459530 bullet which has a couple of reduced driving bands. I was getting 1285 fps with a load compressed about 0.1". Accuracy looked pretty decent to 800m, but I was shooting gongs rather than paper so it's harder to get an exact read.

I've had great accuracy and good SD numbers with OE 1.5 in my grease grooved shooters, but for my paper patch rifles I'm still doing just a little better with Swiss 1.5. But I have put more work into the Swiss loads so it's not a 100% fair comparison.

OE 1.5 works very well in my Shiloh in .40-65 too. Excellent accuracy to 600 with the Kidwell money bullet.

Chris.

Thanks Chris. That is pretty much what I was wondering about so I had a starting point. As Don suggested I think I'll just leave my MVA charge tube at the same setting as I will be using for Swiss and see how it goes. Interesting about volume for weight as even different lots of Swiss can vary quite markedly as to weight for a given volume charge. I've had as much as 4-5 gns difference in weight between lots but as long as the volume and compression remain the same, the loads appear to perform fairly consistently. Go figure ?
Thanks again.

Gavin.

One weird thing I found with Old 'E' 2F. The volume measurement/weight with standard Goex 3F powder. Is the same with 'E' 2F. They even look the same in granulation, except the 'E' is much blacker in color. I load 85 gn in my .45-90 with a PJ Creedmoor bullet.
The last lot of 3F Goex was more towards the very dark gray in color. Huh
My sight settings did not change either. Undecided
