Anniversary Rifle
Ok Guys,
My lovely wife gave me an open rifle order at Shiloh for our Anniversary. What a wonderful wife I have!
Anyways I pretty much know what I want to order except for caliber. I am torn between the 45-70 and the 50-70. It is going to be a hunting rifle mostly. I am pretty sure the 45-70 would take down anything I am going to hunt. But I was wondering how much more effective the 50 would be. I already have a 45-2 7/8 that I have an adjustable mould for. So I am leaning towards the 45-70, but I kind of want a 50. What do you guys think? I need some opinions to help make up my mind. Thanks.
Oh ya, by the way she put in the order 9 months ago. I won't have such a long wait.Big Grin

Happy Anniversary!! The .50/70 gets my vote. But maybe that's just because I should get my new one from C. Sharps Arms today!! This is my 2nd .50/70 and having one just isn't enough. And Happy New Year!!

I'm thinking as you say you sort of want a 50-70, there probably isn't a better time to get a 50-70 than right now..

If you already got a 45 2 7/8 you already have the best. Rethink the purpose of said rifle and go from there. bobw

It came in grand style. What a perfect way to end a year, or to begin another. I might call this gun "Little .50" because of its 26" barrel. Shoot sharp, Mike

Gary, Some pictures should be taken tomorrow. Hey, I need sunshine! And I just pounded the sights on it today. Sights I had, so I ordered the rifle w/o sights. I could brag about the wood but I'll let pictures to that. Shoot sharp, Mike
