Stephen, thank you. My bullet runs a little heavier at 490 grains, but it has shot very well out to 200 yards on paper and 400 yards on gongs. My .50-70 is a C. Sharps 1874, I had it built many years ago as a hunting rifle. I believe the .50-70 to be an excellent hunting round.
I'll give that a try and see how it goes. This something I have wanted to do for years and just never get there.
Another question for you if I may. What do you find to be best for your front sight blade, shape and size?
