RE: 40-50 sbn
What is the basic brass? .45-70?

RE: 40-50 sbn
I took the rifle over to promitory and shot the gong match with it ,the little bullet shot pretty well in some pretty switchy winds , and on the big old 600 yard bear we played with the sights some and the bullet just went where we moved them ,,, I didnt win but that was my fault , I was hurrying my shots , When I settled down and shot so did it,,
50 gns od 1.5 Einsford and a 285 gn pp bullet,
it is a hoot to shoot but now I got a huge pile of brass to reload,
always something it seems ,

Maybe you ought to think about coming to Raton next year and shooting the midrange matches with that rifle.

I have enough cases fireformed now to really shoot a match , and Raton might be a fun way to give it a good run,

I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed that match at Raton. An absolutely fantastic place to shoot, and the shooters there were ALL to the man (except for one fella and to my knowledge have not ever seen him on the Inet) were a great lot of guys and gals to be around and shoot with.
Yup gots to have plenty of cases, the midrange takes 42 rounds per day if you use all 4 of the sighters.(recommended unless the weather is changing rapidly)
50 rounds per day on the Creedmoor turned out to not quite be enough, but had to suffice anyway.

RE: 40-50 sbn
I just got all my cases cleaned and prepped for loading and noticed an interesting thing , the cases loaded with OE were way shinier and cleaner than either the swiss loaded cases or the kik loaded cases , . just another + for OE I guess,
Looks like 50 gns of 1.5 swiss is the same as 45 gns of OE in this rifle the settings are within a minute of each other and the load was dumped from a measure., Kik works and the 2F will shoot all day without fouling control but the extra drag from no tubing will leave an occasional paper ring , 1.5 hasnt been tried yet,Swiss is the only powder that heats up the barrel while shooting the others nothing ,
firing this rifle with no recoil to it sure shows you the things you are doing wrong cause the buck and snort of the heavies are distracting to an extent. not much distracts you when this goes off.

OE is some pretty amazing stuff.
Been cogitating on reaming the 40-65 roller to 40-70 bn, just for kicks and grins.
