Wow. Thank you Kurt!

Not sure when I'll get back to the range but before then I'll pack up my micrometer and go shopping!

Looks like your getting results. But I gotta ask,is that all the powder it will hold? I been putting 76 gr Fg Kik in a 40-70 2.1" BN without a problem. What is its max capacity? bobw

Hi Bobw.

I wanted to try the "historical" load of 70 grs with the 380 first. Then i went to 75. The traditional 70gr load was significantly better. When i full resize my baco 348 reformed brass i can put about 77-78 gr in it and compress without bulging the case. Any more than that seems to affect chambering in my experience.

Down the road i'll try varying the charge in 1 grain increments to see what happens. One interesting note is that my 405 huntin bullet does crappy with 70 grs but shrinks down with 75.

My next testing is going to involve unresized cases only if i can get the 380 gibbs wrapped to a tight fit in the brass.

Yes avoid resizing the brass period. Calculate the outside dia. you need the neck to be, to hold your bullet patched the way you want it. Get a die that will reduce the outside dia. of the neck to hold your patched bullet slip fit. You deprime, clean and dry the case, reprime, charge, wads cookies allready to go. Then size half the neck down to hold your ppb. By not sizing the case it is fireformed for perfect chamber alignment and you don't lose your criticle neck alignment either. You will using the right lube wad find that fouling is less in the throat. Annealing? what annealing. You asked bobw

I built a bushing for my Meachum neck sizing die! I don't even have a FL sizing die for my 44/77! I just work the neck over every reloading!

Bobw,

Thats my goal.
Right now my fireformed baco brass unsized will hold my KAL bullet with 9# baco paper slip fit. The bullet will fall out if i turn it upside down and shake it. I am going to look for slightly thicker paper (Kurt suggested some ideas). I am also going to try (just for the heck of it) over wrapping the bullet with the 9# by 1/4" since the unresized neck holds it that way much better (if i cant get a thicker paper). I really want to eliminate any form of brass prep other than decapping and cleaning.

If Jamison make some brass ill have to go back to the drawing board again since i only am working with 50 pieces at this time. From what I hear the Jameson stuff is a little thinner at the neck. Not sure if i can go much larger wrapped at 380 and still chamber easily. Tapered would be my next path.
