When seating the money bullet or similar bullet seated long , the case hits the top of the hammer on this rifle. If you don't thumb the hammer back a bit further the round won't chamber.

The 45-90 case is about as long as I think a person could get away with on this. I do like the way the things shoot, it's no wonder Pope liked them so well.

Well I got it all sanded down and three coats of tung oil rubbed by hand till it was just about dry and tacky to seal the pours. It needs a little more. I don't like the forearm with the square cut. That is a mistake they made at CPA it is not what I ordered. for now it will do till I get back from Lodi and I will redo it and get a little more oil rubbed in.
This is a .45-90 with a heavy XX Douglas premium 31" barrel 1-1/16" across the flats with a 16 ROT.
I will shoot it tomorrow to get the sights centered for a no wind and maybe blow some cases out to fit the chamber. The chamber was cut with my reamer I had made for this project. It is very tight so it just excepts a .451" patched bullet in a unsized case and it weigh 12#1.2 Oz on the postal scale.
I wont have a chance to get a load worked up before Lodi so I will load just enough of 2F OE to get about .200" compression and hope for the best using the Danielson PP prolate bullet.

85 grs. of the 2f OE is what Eddie shoots in his Fruend rifle with a 540 patched bullet.

Well I took the new CPA .45-2.4 to Lodi to see what it will do. It shot better then I expected for a not proven rifle and load and brass that was cut down .44-75 cases cut to 2.408" and expanded to hold a .451" bullet.
I used 85 gr of 1.5 swiss compressed to .250" with two plastic wads and a 1/8" lube wad and I used a 513 gr prolate bullet patched to .451" and a Wolf LRP. This is the first swiss I shot in many years,
For a thrown together load in a new rifle it shot better then I expected.
a 1000 ag I shot a 142-2, 900 120, 800 162-2. not the best but a good start.
I had 5 shots that went in the dirt ahead of the pit from fat fingering. This trigger is so soft that just feeling it will set it off. I tried to tighten it but the set screw is set in red locktite and I had to wait till I got home to stick a allen wrench in it and heat it up to soften the red so I can turn the screw.
Now to get the rest of the 44 cases cut down and fired at least once to get ready for Baker and the Q. and shoot some ladder loads for a working load. Maybe I can make the top 10
