My chamber is so tight I cant chamber a fired .45-70 case shot in my Shiloh. It sticks out about a 1/2"
I have a die blank and I will run to my friends place and use his lathe to make the die.

Kurt wouldn't it be quicker and easier just to expand the mouths on your 44-75's?

The .44-75's are 2.518" long and the .44-100 is 2.6" long

I did Don, The .44-75 brass is to long for the .45-90.

But couldn't you just run the 45-90 brass into the 44xx size die, then expand the neck out, seat a bullet, firearm and be ready to go?

I got home this afternoon and started on the new rifle to get it ready for Lodi. A week and halve is going to push me getting it ready for oil. I started on the wood and dug through my supply of dies and I have a CH-4D .45-70 sizing die that has a deep throat so it excepts the whole .45-90 case and it just sizes the neck enough that it will seat in the chamber and extracts. A patched bullet one thousand over bore just fits in the case mouth with a firm push. Just about got the chamber to tight. But to tight is better then to loose. I can always make it bigger not smaller

The Stevens action just about wont allow the wider case rim clear the action to extract. It's very tight but workable. The shorter .44-77 case might be a better option for the CPA action.

I was wondering how that 44 2 5/8 was going to work on that action. I sometimes have to thumb the hammer back just a little bit further to get a 45-90 case rim to clear and let the round slide in the chamber.

The hammer is not the problem, the round trough in front of the hammer. It's not quite wide enough. I took and twisted the rim in some emery cloth a little and that was enough that it cleared the ears.
With a .44-77 case I don't have to do this. Just drop the block and elevate the muzzle and the case will drop out with out a problem because it's shorter then the 90 case. But it works just fine by taking a thousand off the rim diameter.
