Case Trimmer's

What to you guys recommend for a case trimmer on the longer straight walled cases?

I have used the lee system and late model rcbs but upgraded to the LE Wilson. I think CH makes a copy and case holders. I have used it on 6x47 Lapua to 45-100 and it just works.

I have three trimmers. One Forrester and two LE Wilson's. I favor the Wilson trimmers. I got the first one back in the 60's and it is still going strong. It is getting a little brown from use over the years from rust build up. I got a second one so I don't have to change the settings.
The Forrester is also a good trimmer. I got it mainly for the long .45 3-1/4 and the .50 calibers, plus the Company is just seven miles down the road from me. There is one thing I don't like about the Forrester and that is the need of pilots to hold the case centered. When you start trimming some of the brass starts to work in behind the pilot and sticks you have to clean the trimmings out so it can cut. It does not get used much anymore.

If I were getting a Wilson or CH , I would be sure that it had a hold down device with it. They are a little slow but trim even and repeatable. Just my 2cents.

Looks like Sinclair makes a high price copy of the LE Wilson. e-bay 749-013-151ws. Mine not very expensive and works very well.

Ol cheapskate here... I put the Lee outfit in the drill press, and set the stop on the press to trim to the length I want. Makes quick work out of shortening long brass into something usable.

Like a lot of people I have run a Forster for many years. I feel that they are a good solid product and easy to use. There is a few drawbacks to them when you get into some of the less popular calibers such as the 44-77 and such. You need a seperate collet for that case head and you also need to have the collet holder opened up to fit the rim. The pilots are also a pain in the behind at times.
All in all they are very good for the standard calibers that most people shoot. I would think that when you get into the odd or different calibers that some of us shoot the Wilson might be a better choice. I don't know how the prices compare on the Wilson case holders but I would think that if you can pick up a good used wilson at a gun show it might be a better investment for that odd case or 2 that you need to trim from time to time.
