CPA
So, my friend bought a CPA chambered in 40-82. This a cartridge neither of us know much about ( read, nothing ). Now he's looking for brass and can't get enough info to figure out what to buy. As I understand, 45-90 can just be sized down and it works fine. He has found 40-82 Silhouette brass at Buffalo Arms, will that work? I have no idea just what Silhouette brass means and apparently Buffalo Arms told him it was thicker. That leaves the definition just a little vague. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve.

I don't have a .40-82. But I understand that there are several different variations of chambers out there. You might get ahold of Beltfed Arnie he has one and could give you some solid information on it.

RE: CPA
You might talk to Dave Crossno in Oklahoma if it is one of his chamber design. He sold a size die at one time to size 45-90 brass down and yes it will be thicker in the neck after sizing. C H also made a size die. Anneal and lube , too much lube will dent cases and too little will leave a stuck case. LB

RE: CPA
I would just take a .40-65 die and run a .45-90 case through it and see if it will chamber. trim if you need too. If it does shoot a loaded round and let it fill the chamber.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help. I had the same thought as you Kurt, my friend was a little buggered by that. Someone told him he needed forming dies. Something neither of us even knew what those are. Why couldn't he just run in his 40-82 dies?

RE: CPA
If I recall, those brass that came with Cody's rifle are just Starline 45-90's ran into the dies that came with it.
I trust you guys are building enough brass so you can run that rifle at Worland this weekend?

RE: CPA
I've only looked a couple of his brass and they say 45-70, somehow I have the idea they came from Buffalo Arms. Sorry would love to go to Worland, but no, he is planning on going to Forsyth in June though.
