RE: Quigley Flier
Confused I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around them banning coated bullets as they aren't "authentic" enough...Undecided At a match where any kind of powder, and any single shot or levergun is allowed?Big Grin

RE: Quigley Flier
Has anyone said what a "coated bullet" is? Does a paper patch bullet "coated" with the Red Rooster dry lube sold by Buffalo Arms fall into the ban? Shoot sharp, Mike

RE: Quigley Flier
It says coated with epoxy or powder... So where does that leave liquid alox covered bullets? Does that also mean you can't use motor mica after you lube the bullets?
I can see it if it was something that was causing target damage, but something not being "authentic" just don't fly on this deal IMHO..

I'm not trying to argue about the rules but I would like to understand them a little better. Where is their cut-off date for authenticity and are smokeless loads with gas check bullets authentic? Shoot sharp, Mike

Yes that's the part that's got me curious,, if smokeless and gaschecks are aok in a plastic stocked TC Encore... what exactly is the definition of authentic?

Gavin, I'd like to meet your son and maybe trade some notes with him, or you. I just might have my .40/70 SS C. Sharps Highwall at Quigley, that is if it ever learns how to shoot. Actually that statement is unfair, I just got it on paper today at 200 yards. This time the scope was mounted tightly enough that it didn't move. All shots scored and that amounted to 35 shots, at 100 yard paper, plus gongs at 100 and 200 yards, without cleaning. By the time I got to the 200 yard paper, the gun must have been pretty tired. Also, I shot some paper patched bullets through my .40/70 SS today for the first time. That was rather nice but windage was off. Still good! Anyway, I just might take my .40/70 along on that trip. Shoot sharp, Mike

Bit lost too, on the bullet coat thing.Confused
My bet, Buzz is talking about powder coated and moly coated bullets.
Do agree about the WHY-just don't see it as a big deal HuhUndecided
Neither will 'hurt' a steel target.
My wife Heart and I use Bear Creek moly-coated bullets for SASS events.
Oh-Well, not my 'house'.
Won't affect us, as we won't be attending. Due to the fact that Barbara just started a new job and have "0" vacation time till next year.

Hav'n you along, is like losing two good men.....
