RE: Got the call!!!!!
The land of toll roads east of me is not my favorite direction to travel Confused But I want to get out of the house for a spell. Been cooped up to long.
I have 50 rounds loaded and some for the .44-77 maybe they have a place to shoot out there.

RE: Got the call!!!!!
Congrats on getting the call. I am sure that Paul can point you in the direction of some kind of range in that area. If nothing else stop in at Ridgway on your way home. Its only about a half hour to 45 minutes from I80.

Hi Sam.

I would like to stop and see that range. Maybe there will be something going on there when I get in that location.
Maybe I will also throw in the .44-100 to take along.

RE: Got the call!!!!!
Kurt, I think that there is something going on there most every weekend and it seems that there is someone up on the range almost everyday. Go here, http://www.ridgwayrifleclub.com/, and then you can click on the event schedule and take a look at what they have going on.
I am hoping that I get my call soon. I have 50 rounds loaded so far and another 40 setting in the block to get started. The first batch is loaded with Elephant 3F, and I will take the last 40 and load half with CTG and the other half with 1 1/2 Swiss and see how things work.

RE: Got the call!!!!!
Well go home yesterday and today I just had to shoot the CPA Tongue
I used two longer cases then the chamber and one that was a measured length using the chamber reamer to see just how much it shrinks when it is fired. This chamber is going to be great. The full length sized case only setback .001" when it was fired and a patched bullet fits snug in the fired case mouth. This chamber will not except a GG cullet unless I have a mould made that makes a GG bullet at bore diameter or .002" over bore. I like the action on this rifle. It will cam a tight fitting bullet about 1/4" this makes it ideal for shooting dirty.
I think I will get along fine with this rifle once I get the wood sanded and finished with Tung oil.
I will say the action is lightning fast and the trigger is the best I have ever had.
No use putting the .22 rim fire barrel on it to see how it shoots till I get my sights mounted.

RE: Got the call!!!!!
Glad to hear you made it back home safe and sound. I didn't know if you would finish the stock your self or have Paul do it. Either way he does make a very nice rifle. I know we will all be expecting pics when you get some sanding and finishing done on the stock.

RE: Got the call!!!!!
I talked to Paul for quite a while. One fine fellow to spend time with. He walked me through changing barrels and recommendations finishing the wood.
The wood to metal fit is not as good as Shiloh but I think I can close some of the gaps when I start to finish the wood. I really don't want to start sanding on the stock quite yet. It has been out in damp conditions since I had it with six days of steady rains when moving down the roads.
The rifle might be a little heavy for the Silhouette game. As close as I can weigh it on my food scale it comes in at 12# with the 32" round barrel, but I guess I could mount a scope on it if it's a couple OZ over the limit for tang sights. I don't shoot silhouettes anyway.
Gail asked me when they started building the rifle if I wanted to make it 12.2# I said no just cut the barrel 32". I have other rifles that make weight.
