1000 yd World Championship

Bruce, there should be a suitable and well patronized 1,000 yard range within a relatively short drive of every freeman. And, the Black Powder Cartridge Shooters should be allowed to share the range with others.

A point of fact or two Bruce, maybe more as I wade off into this.

Any competitor at the World 1000 could have fired uncoached. That was the competitors choice.

All of the competitors that shot the World 1000 that have won The Creedmoor Cup previously chose to shoot it coached.

All of the World and National Champions that competed in the 1000 Yard World Championships chose to shoot it coached.

They know from first hand experience that Ben Avery is unlike any other range anywhere. It is not Creedmoor, Bisley or Dollymont. It is the Mount Everest of the 21st Century for long range black powder riflemen. It is "THE" challenging range of our time if not all time.

Those that have shot Ben Avery before should know that a string of four shots could look like this:

Shot 1 - X
Shot 2 - miss two feet over the top of the target
Shot 3 - ten at three o'clock
Shot 4 - miss 15 minutes low

And never have touched the sights on the rifle or observed a change in mirage or flags.

The enduring irony of Ben Avery is that every one of those four shots was perfectly executed at the time it left the barrel of the rifle.
