1889 Marlin?
Doc called this morning and asked are you going to be around in an hour or so?Huh Yeh we'll be here.
Well in due time ol aggie rolled into the yard and here come Doc packin a levergun.Big Grin As soon as he clears the gate he says "here ya go, Merry Christmas" and hands me this old Marlin.Blush
I believe it's an 89 model as it still has the external leverlatch. Top of the barrel is marked 38 w. The rifling is real strong.
The back end of the firing pin is broken off and there's a bit of slop where the barrel attaches to the receiver. But other than that she looks pretty good.
Now on the hunt for a firing pin, thinking I may be able to take the barrel out, clean up the threads and Loctite it back in place. Altho I might call Gerri the gunsmith and ask him what he thinks about it.

Don, you can conjer-up some shot-shells for it and hang it on the outside of the chicken-coop ... ready to go for foxs, etc. Rolleyes!
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

RE: 1889 Marlin?
Jim , I've got a batch of 38-40's loaded already for the Colt clone, so we're ready to go as quick as we can get the firing pin etc fixed.[/i]

RE: 1889 Marlin?
I don't really know Dean. If I had a piece of drill rod about 1/4" round I could probably braize it to the end of this one and get the thing to running.
