No, a m/94 pin will not work.
The 99 has a very unique f'pin, and no other Marlin comes even close.

Nice looking 'smoke stick' Don. 38 WCF is a great round. Used to have a half mag 92 rifle in 38. Sold it for something else dont you know Rolleyes You'll have to keep us posted on your results.

RE: 1889 Marlin?
Looking forward to seeing if the thing will shoot once the firing pin gets here, and I get a bunch more crud scrubbed out of the barrel.

RE: 1889 Marlin?
Don, I was doing a little research tonight on my Marlin 94 and found this site, http://oldguns.net/sn_php/marlinlookup.php, I was able to look up the date of manufacture of mine. When you get back home you can do the same, I was surprised at the age of my rifle, it would be interesting to hear how old yours is.
Mine, I would guess, was a delux model. Down side is the butt stock has been replaced but the original forearm is still there, checkered and looks like it was very nice wood. Part Octagon barrel, 3/4 magazine, silver blade front and semi buck horn rear, "marlin safety" stamped on top of the receiver. Cal 44w. Made in 1893 according to the site.
Take care and shoot well down there.

RE: 1889 Marlin?
Don, I need to take a moment and correct my self. I was at a gun show today and asked a few questions and did a little more research when I got home. Seems I don't have a 94. I seem to have an 89 marlin. The most obvious distenction is the lever latch. The 94's don't have a latch, mine does. Also a 94 that I looked at had the top tang engraved and mine doesn't. And since my s/n says it was made in 93 it would make much more sense that its an 89.

RE: 1889 Marlin?
LOL Don, I will see if I can dig it back out of the safe and get a good one to post. Its just something I have, and I do like it, but never gave it or it's history much thought. It's a nice light carry rifle, seems to shoot good enough, even though I haven't put it on paper for so long I just don't remember how it groups. I do know that it has taken a nice 8 point white tail for me a very long time ago.
