Thanks so much ,Don and Kurt, for your time and expense looking into this stuff !!!!!! we all benefit from the practical testing and commentary

Reading the testing exploits of you folks and others on several forums certainly advances my knowledge on powders

It also intrigues me that there is something decidedly "different" about "Old E----------i don't think this quest is truly ended

too many surprises surrounded the testing indicate that there is something special about the powders formulation and or processing that remains to be learned----------time will tell

Dave I like testing stuff out. The 120$ I spent on this powder is cheaper than a new gun, and has provided a lot of challenge and learning curve. Now just need to rerun some of the 44-77 loads and see if I can get things sorted out a little better. If when I get the 44 settled in I may just for kicks and grins dig the 40-65 out of the dustballs and see how it reacts to this stuff.

Re-reading all the posts to this point, it looks like Olde E. powder doesn't seem to mind a fair amount of compression either; like up to the 0.300-0.340" or so. Is that correct? Got a supply of Olde E. in the mail bags this morning, too; thanks to Jerry @ Powder Inc. Probably start testing in the .40/65 about as soon as it gets here. Ya chust can't beat fun for a good time, ya szhure!

Don, BTW I hope you got a decent ration of snow out of this latest blast. Green pastures and a decent hay crop makes for happier cows; happier cow owners, too.

IR the 1.5 seemed to smooth out over the chronograph with some serious compression.
Looking forward to your reporting on the 40-65.

Yes we're getting some snow and it's got some pretty decent moisture in it, but it's getting shoved into piles by the wind. Good news is it sound like a chance of moisture for the next 4-5 days. We're a long ways away from enough moisture for hay, but the prospects of having at least some grass to start the spring are looking better by the hour..

When I burn up this last 17lbs of Goex 3F I have.
I will give the O/E, 2F a try.
My fear, is 'they' will stop make'n it, after I get a load go'n....

They might have some more in the pipeline. Grafs is showing it in stock on their web this morning. I'm thinking it's going to be around for awhile, especially if folks get to using it and winning or placing well at matches this summer.
It will be interesting to see if it makes it to Canada, as Goex is about the only powder they can get up there, and what those guys think about the stuff

Got 2# of 1.5 and the same of 2F Old E yesterday on my weekly trip by Graf's.

Today, I dropped 68.0 gr. of 1.5 Swiss onto the scales then reloaded the measure with 1.5 Old E. The scale reading was 59.0, same volumne.

Interesting !

Smells a little different too and it does not "shine". Also is a smaller size granular than the Swiss, although it filled a 45/70 case to the same level as the Swiss, about 0.400 below the case mouth. The Old E will need to be compressed about 0.200 to seat the bullet.

Next project is to load a few cases with the BACO Money Bullet and volumne amounts of both powders and head to the range, probally next week.
