RE: C Sharps 1874
(08-13-2019, 10:36 AM)Mike Wrote: I guess Shiloh would call that a #3. C. Sharps Arms lists it as a Hartford Sporting Rifle which I find to be a much more descriptive title. And that does look like a #2 Heavy barrel. Here's a picture of my "Hannah," a .44/77 with a #2 barrel. I have a twin to Hannah in .50/90. Actually, I've done more and better shooting with a .50/70 than I have with the .50/90, although I have taken deer and bear with the .50/90 but have never hunted with a .50/70... Maybe that can be fixed...
BTW, Thanks for the clarification on the model name Mike, I hadn't been over to C-Sharps website enough to know the differences, guess that makes my other 50-90 the same, is 'Hannah' a nickname for your 44-77?

RE: C Sharps 1874
10-4, and that's a damn cool tribute Mike, I accidently named on of my Sharps rifles, down at the low water bridge, and at the conclusion of a very successful weekend of deer hunting, I was pulling my ice cold dressed deer from the running water creek when a guy that had hunted with us ask me how I shot completely through those deer, a couple I shot through lengthways.
I said, no big deal for "the weak sister" to shoot through deer at any angle, we all laughed and went on, to my surprise, the next year he asked is I brought the 'weak sister' I said of course, so now I guess my little Shiloh 45-70 has a nickname too.

I need to get an 1874 in a .50-90 to try out. Maybe a Rough Rider with a 28 inch standard 1/2 round barrel should make around a 10 lb gun
BTW pacecars, a 10 pound, fast [22 twist] 50-90 shooting 700+ grain bullets will be a handful Sir, getting a 36 twist and running 473's may not be so bad, iirc my other 50 weighs either 11 or 11.5lbs, it is indeed not a whole lot of fun from the bench, after 50 rounds firing at Rdncks steel I was in dire need of one gallon of liquid Advil and an ice truck ; ]
Paceecars, Get that 10 pound Sharps in .50/70 and it will be your favorite. Shoot sharp, Mike
