RE: Paper Patch question
if you dont have one of stephens boards, one of them cheep 6x6 candy tins are just perfect. turn it upside down and pour lube into the bottom , it is the right height and the dimention is good for packing and storage, .then if you want to get real fancy , get a 1.00$ cutting board from the dollar store drill some 3/8 holes in it and use it for a lube form , it is a little thick but the cookies you cut drop into the case , and the follower on the wad flattens them into placeat the right height. ,saves one step ,having to wipe the case necks , I prefer to travel with these , they are a little less messy on the road and in a tent.

RE: Paper Patch question
Lots of great help for me here gentlemen-thanks for the continuing discussion !!!!! the lube cookie mold idea sounds like the thing to do----i'll work on that mold next
Bob---the lathe guy's finished the neck sizing die----all polished up ready to use ---- hope to get loading and testing tomorrow----------the expander should open an anealed cast to 0.4505--same as the patched bullet----the cases are "partially sized" leaving the head section and say 20% of the case adjacent to the head untouched-----hope everything will center up just fine.
If this new case prep process works (closes the group to say 2 or 3 minutes) i'll load enough to shoot next weeks sillywet match
Any thoughts on the bigger pieces of "confetti"----normal---good---disastrous ??????
Again thanks for continuing the thread and happy 4th
Dave

RE: Paper Patch question
while confetti is nice , one of my best Creedmoore loads was a heavy velum patch on a round nose bullet that left a 1/2 patch and a confetti top wrap , I shot some of my best scores with it , the big problem I saw with it was so much elevation compared to a pointer bullet , ..sometimes you just think you need to fix something ,

RE: Paper Patch question
Dean that's a nice idea for a lube cookie mould. I think I'll make one of those up this weekend. What are you using as a follower?
Thanks,
Chris.

RE: Paper Patch question
Hi Bob
Thanks for the follow up Sir-----------testing yesterday at 200 yards i shot to a 10 shot group of 3 minutes, nothing spectacular but an improvement !!!!!!!!!!
changin wind from 3 to 5 o'clock and shooting off the bench most probably opened the group 1 minute from what i usually shoot of sticks prone soooooooooooooo loadin 70 rounds for next weeks silhouette match----------enough for sight settings and a 40 target match.
I'll no doubt get plenty of kibitzers shooting PP but its enjoyable
Seems this slick slug shoots about 2 or 3 minutes lower than my money bullet greaser
Thank again for the help
Dave
