.44-77 and paper patch?

Don,Midway has the nylon 45 cal brush with the brass core on sale now, that's why I made these. Took the BACO Bore wipes apart and new wool drilled better for the ends.

Here's a selection of the bullets I've ran thru the 44-77 shiloh's since Jamison shipped me the first 200 cases out of their door.

I kept saying I didn't need another rifle too, but then some guy had to go and offer a .44-77 barrel off a Shiloh for sale! There is always an enabler out there that finds a way to cause me to break down!

That barrel went elsewhere but the .44-77 bug had already bit me hard! So I bought the GM barrel and began the effort to get it put on my old Shiloh. Which by the way has a crescent butt plate! I may or may not change that at a later date. It somewhat depends on how well the rifle shoots as a .44-77. I would enjoy stocking another rifle and I have wood,...…. and the winters are long.

I have two barrel certificates, one $100. Krieger and a $50 GM plus a treeborn. I might get a MVA High wall action and put one together.
I sort of like to get the Krieger 5-R rifling if they make it now in the .438/446.

I think I'm going with a 5 degree at the end of case mouth for my chamber, and I checked Kreiger, 5G only goes to 30 caliber and there 44 is only offered in 18 twist. I know BACOhad a 17 twist at one time.

I knew you got that barrel and I hope to follow how it works out for you. I don't know if it would have indexed on my action or not, no one knew so I just couldn't commit to the buy. That did kickstart my .44-77 project so it all works out good.

I've got to chew on this chamber idea for a bit longer.

It's very hard to argue results with a good chamber, proper alloy mix, when bullets leave the muzzle undamaged looking like you could use them again. Then all that remains is shooter control and a proper bullet match for the ROT.
Look at bullet #8 from the left, the Danielson .45 prolate that shoots so well.
