RE: History
So I register for this new forum I hear about, and I'm wondering if I know anyone here. Yep! I do. This place must be very tolerant or filled with crotchety old men, to let Rick Mulhern hang around.
I just got to looking around on here today. Glad to see you Rick.

He's certainly given me sound advice and insight over the years. Glad he's out hunting. I need to do some of that myself.

RE: History
You folks be kind to Alan! Lordy Lordy....the Great State of Texas wouldn't be TEXAS without the likes of him! Glad to see you've found a great place to come to Alan! Don patrols this place pretty well to keep out all the 'riff-raff' but somehow or other I managed to squeeze through the door!!
Went to Kansas earlier and man....as I sat in my blind I watched BUTTERFLIES!! Hot it was and the flies were out in full force! As I sat there I was thinking what in the world happened to my brain to make me think that I wanted to make the early ML season!! Saw 8 different bucks but not the shooter I was looking for! Going back after it gets cooled down because I've got a Fall turkey tag and maybe I can fill it! Don....I see its 25F in Lusk this AM so you're gonna have a cool day for knocking around in! Wish we could get some of that here! You folks take care and enjoy the remainder of this week! Good to see you here Alan!!

RE: History
Rick, If you don't shoot it, you don't have to clean it! That's been my motto for the past some odd years. I keep threatening to shoot one, but even the deer don't take me seriously any more. I did pick up a Henry Rifle in 45-70 rifle the other day though and may just surprise a spike or a doe this year that I still have a little blood lust in me.
We're at 65 degrees this morning, a welcome change from humid and hot. Seems like it's been raining for a month here. Pretty unusual for S.Texas this time of year. Just glad we didn't have another storm. Those folks in the Florida panhandle took a pretty good dunt yesterday. I've got a few contacts in the path of the storm but haven't heard from any of them yet.
Have a great day and keep your powder dry.

Got a life long buddy in Clayhatchee, Alabama that had 500 acres of cotton that had at least 2.5 bales per acre made and it's now a total loss! No deaths in his area though so possibly a recovery is possible but I know about how many $$$$ per acre he had in that crop and it would be mighty hard to overcome that....for me anyway!!
Yeah Don...Ole Mother Nature held out right here to the last of the 'Whupnader Season' and then said "Oh to hell with it....let's wind up and go give the US coastline a kick in the arse"! And...it did!!
