For targets-Let me suggest standard paper plates.
Thicker paper, and better 'show' of the bullet hit without the tearing etc.
Buy them at Sams Club or Costco, and they are supper cheap.
Also-I suggest you tract the bullet hits on the target, for future reference.
Try a .45-90 F/L size die, for your .45-70 brass.

Great idea, I would probably get target panic from the pressure of missing the whole thing! Lol . I demoed a office building and in thet basement there was a pallet of 3x3 easel paper .The stuff at the bottom is much thicker .I keep meaning to stop at a local rubber stamp Co that has different size bullseye.

Cat three and less then two inches vertical at 400 yards is very respectable. make sure you have the load information well guarded so you don't loose it for this powder lot number. Developing loads I look at the vertical and not to much at the horizontal. Horozontal spreads for me is not correcting for wind and at times fat fingering or changing cheek weld and grip. Your vertical groups look very good for 400 yards in anybody's book.

I don't use sizing dies except the very first time with a new batch of brass. I have chambers I drew up and I use my reamers but they are designed for a PP only that don't need sizing for my chambers. I do have factory chambered rifles that will handle a GG bullet and for these I use a .45 short taper crimp die to get the neck diameter for a GG bullet or a PP for that matter in factory chambers. I can get the proper neck tension I want from one thousand or more with out having to use a expander plug or bushing die that might make a out of round mouth. I made a tapered plug that will fit a .38 to .50 caliber that will just flair the case mouth enough I need to get a bullet started with out shaving lead off the shank when seating with neck tension then back off the taper crimp die to knock the flair down just enough so the slight flair still on the case mouth scrapes the chamber wall. I know the taper is concentric so the case is held straight in the chamber. This is just important as getting the bullet run out to a minimum. I did this shooting bench rest and I carry it through for the black powder matches.
Yes this involves a little more time getting a uniform case length so everything is the same when the case is run through the sizing and flaring stages. I want to shoot my best at a match and if all this work falls together then if I fail shooting well it's my fault not my load or rifle or my spotter.

On your slip fit , you may need a larger diameter bullet for optimal accuracy, depending on what your fired cases measure.

All three molds drop .458 I shoot them as cast .Fired cases inside the case mouth are .456 .457

good to go there.

I annealed and shot them 5 times slip fit .457
Today I annealed, drill with a deep well socket gave them a ten count after firing .462 case mouth.
Nothing gets by ya !

You going to shoot at Ridgeway this spring ?

I have to get a load worked up before I'll dare shoot in public. I just received a Lyman 457132 mould and ordered a new PID controlled lead pot. Now I have to figure out how to make 16:1 alloy from the mixed lead and alloys that I have laying around. One day I'll get squared away. Shippensburg, PA and Cumberland in NJ are closer to me, unsure of getting to Ridgeway.

Neck size with Lyman short die
Baco .457 - .460 expander
Redding competition bullet seating die . Amazing tool, a must have if your using neck tension . I get it now

Test load
BR2 coffee filter over primer
560 gr Brooks as cast 20 to 1
Olde 2f 30 in drop tube 70gr 71gr 72gr 73gr 74 gr. .60 veggie wad
Really tighten up within compression

Turned into a very windy day left to right.
All the extra work with neck tension and TR
looks promising . 200yds vertical looks good.
