40/82 Silhouette
Got my Shiloh back from Steve Rhoades with a new 40/82 Chamber and had a few brass made up for it, after adjusting the die to make more I loaded up some with a smokeless load to fireform the brass to the chamber and when I git back from shooting on Monday I went to the range to get some sight settings and shoot the loads up to fireform the brass. At 100 yards I had to tap the front sight in a little to get my zero then went to 200, a couple of shots , got it set . Then out to 300 a couple of shots. All in the X ring, I'm thinking this bsby is shooting real well. Moved my 300 yard target out to 400 took a couple of shots to get on the X ring, put the next 4 in the X and high in the 10 ring for a 3 inch group. I'm thinking I hope this baby likes Black as well as it likes white powder. Put my steel swinger out to 500 with a white 6 inch circle on a black plate, just then another shooter shows up with his black rifle and puts targets up to shoot. When we comenced to shoot My first shot was a miss so Iwent up 2 minutes and got a hjt half way to the circle, went up 2 more minutes and shot 2 more and they were st 5 o'clock in the circle with both shots touching. Now I'm impressed, never had to move the windage an it was pretty centered up,
Got some more loaded up to fireform tomorrow at a shoot at Chillicothe, then it will be on to BP, 78 to 80 grains of Swiss with a 400 grain Kidwell bullet.

Hope it runs as well with the real powder.
I have a 40-90 bn that should be in next week. Hoping for some good things from it.

I should have enough brass to get some BP loads worked up next week.

CoolI don't know anything about that Tongue
The guy that is selling those rifles is dying from cancer, his heirs don't want the rifles , and he's trying to get them to a good home while he still can..

Anyway your 4082 topic is quite timely, I have a friend that called me a couple of nights ago and said "you know anybody shooting one of these new versions of the 40-82"...
So hurry up and get to the range with the thing so we can learn what it will and won't do..

Bill can you measure how far the case neck is a cylinder from the case mouth and the diameter? And what is the total length of the case?

RE: 40/82 Silhouette
Don Mc. What is the appropriate parent case to form .40/90 BN cases, or is the outfit in Rapid City or somewhere mfg. these cases? Just curious. And what do you intend to use for loading dies?
