I think if I would get one of these units I would use a tablet that has a larger screen then a phone.

I don't know how these tablets work, I'm just a ham radio operator that is still in the vacuum tube age, but if these tablets have a camera in them just connect with something like skipe and use two tablets. A lot less at $80. more or less.

Kurt, I have not ever used a tablet but the larger screen size I would like. I did a google search and an I-pad is called a tablet by everyone but Apple Smile No wonder the computer world is so confusing Smile

I "think" the problem in your scenario is a tablet needs to connect through a wifi system? The Caldwell has its own wifi and your phone connects through that on a mobile app you download. Surely there are some computer "people" on here that would know. If you were at a range that had their own wifi it may work.

I like the price on that tablet you posted link to though and may get one just for larger screen size...........or just "borrow" Doris's when she isn't lookingSmile

Maybe you can just provide a hotspot from the phone.

What I need here today is something that can see through fog.

Kurt, I have never used a hot spot either but that may work!

50 degrees yesterday, high winds and below zero wind chills last night and wind howling today although the sun is shining. Clear sky means cold tonight

Kurt you just need a huge fan to blow away that fog. I just changed to a new range that seems to have less winter fog. A camera for 300 would be nice though, as it's hard to spot shots.

it's too bad about the system not working with a Windows laptop. Maybe they'll come out with the software for it soon. it shouldn't be a lot more difficult than writing a phone app.

Thanks Don. I may throw this option forward to our club for discussion and consideration. One of our members has the Bullseye unit but a a club owned set up may be the better way to go as we wouldn't be dependant on the one person making it to each shoot. The fact that they are a couple of hundred dollars less than the Bullseye doesn't hurt either. Will give it some thought.

regards.. Gavin.

Jb, unless somebody dead centered the camera itself or the transmitter, the tripod/pole to mount it on could be easily replaced/reenginered

Just an update here, my friend Wild Bill, bought one of the Caldwell Target Cameras and then purchased the tablet in the link above that Kurt provided. He came over yesterday and I got it all set up for him and it works great! Now if it would warm up and the wind would quit blowing so I could go shoot!
