I've had two 93 Marlins in 30-30, first one couldn't keep 5 shots on a pie plate at 100 yards. Second one was a real tack driver and it had some kind of special front sight on it that I haven't seen since. Sold it to get a PP barrel on my Shiloh 45-110. Wish I still had both, but...

Mike I don't know if that bunch over at Pringle is still going or not, but they shot lever gun and handgun silhouette every month.
If a person hit the right weekend I think you could shoot a lever gun match at Watkins , Co. on saturday and Byers on Sunday.
And they used to shoot lever guns at Forsyth once a month.

Our plans where after the Q and Baker to go to Utah and Washington to the National Parks and take in some shoots if I could find them and when they are going on.
I have plenty of ammo left, around 900+ from the 1600 I took. But I have to get back home in time before the Peaches and Apricots fall off the trees.

Well if you did Alliance, then went up Douglas creek, come back down to Casper for the oneday 22 match, then back up to the high country, then Byers the weekend before labor day. Byers to Arches, Bryce and Zion, then be at Perry city on Labor day weekend for the silhouette, then up thru Jellystone, down to Ekalaka the weekend after labor day, then hang out there until the Big Hill the following weekend, you would be home in time for the peach festival.
Or stay around the Salt Lake valley after the silhouette match take in the Golden Spike match then head to Big Hill.

Don't know about Douglas Creek. They where logging there last year raising a lot of dust and had the roads closed during the week.

I have to use the peach excuse like you use the hay excuse for not making a match. LOL.

RE: A couple new friends
I spent some time with the 93 and the 95 Marlins as well as the .444 Marlin 95.

I had Tom at Accurate moulds make a brass 2 cavity 43-280-F for the .444 and a 31-151-G 3 cavity brass for the .30-30. I must say that Tom makes a top quality multi cavity mould that all three cavity's as well as the two cavity thrown exact bullets in weight and diameter and fall freely from the mould when I open the blocks.
The .444 with the micro groove barrel never would shoot the way I wanted it to but the 280-F is now usable if I want to use it for lever matches. The 95 45-70 lever rifle eats the 121-PH like my cookie munchers eating Nana's cookies with a load of 2F OE. It will feed a 50 round box so fast that the barrel gets to hot through the wood forearm to make it uncomfortable to hold long.
The 93 marlin shot the bullets out of a Lyman 311041 mould that was supposed to cast a 173 gr bullet drops a 186 gr. It shot OK at 100 yards but it had a problem at 200. This made me get a mould from Tom with a 150 gr and 40 gr of 2F OE sure woke this rifle up. I think it's going to do the job well for me.
Now if I could just get Tom to make a prolate for my .44-100 rem st. Smile
