Messing withe the 73 Winchester. Had to change the front sight to a blade I could file off to get enough elevation to reach 100 meters without using all the elevator.
37 gr. OE 2f. muzzleloader original dry lubed felt wad. Lyman bullet cast from 16-1.

    Hey Ranch, Some doin's! What brass are you using with your .44/40. I find with Starline that 35 grains of Old Enysford 2F is about all I can stuff in there. And that's enough, I suppose, because the load I'm using the most is just 33 grains under #42798 (that's #427098 for you younger folks). That still zips out at about 1300 fps out of my 28" barreled low-wall. Velocity from the 24" barreled '73 isn't far behind. Shoot sharp, Mike

I have some Winchester and some new Scrapline. Couldn't believe it when I open the package, those cases are a straight as a string, no taper , no shoulder no nothing. Forming cases in the dies and fire forming.. Looks like it may take a couple of times to fireform them out completely.
I use a compression die, but could get 40 gr. in the case, but that would be a bit more compression than the Eynsford seems to like.

Hey Ranch, I'm not using a compression die and seating the bullets down over 33 grains is no problem. That doesn't deform the bullets at all, even while they are fairly soft. Speaking of bullets, I'd better cast some more. Shoot sharp, Mike
