91% alcohol will remove light dino based oil with ease.

We always had a great deal of difficulty washing off the engine parts with denatured alcohol on the Kendel GT-1 racing oil, dino based, it would leave a slime film, so washed first with hot soapy water or vapor degreaser then alky for rinse for assy. With synthetics alky worked just fine if in hurry and just doing a fix.
Denatured was safer in build room than lacquer thinner, less of a "high"Rolleyes

Engine oil is NOT a 'light based' oil.
We used steam cleaners for decreasing engines when I worked for Wilcap, In Torrance Ca. back in the 1960s.

Torrance in the '60s, ah the good ol' days Gary!
Spent the late '40s thru the early 50's in Englewood, then to Orange CO. We had lots of high-power rifles, but no BP stuff back then.

That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!
