CSA 40-70 Hepburn

Finally got a chance to run the canoe paddle in 40-70. I am very happy, it seemed to want to digest everything I fed it this morning. Even likes some 360 gr bore diameter paper patch slicks (.400 dia. prior to wrapping)
Only shot at 300 yds,and I had a paper target up but 3 shots on the paper and the wind took the target way far away,, we did find it later, and things looked good on that.
Also shot the 412 gr. 396 diameter money bullet cast from 18-1, and the Saeco 740 bullet.
All were in Captec cases stuffed with 69 gr. OE 1 1/2.

The 3 triple up cluster at near 12 o'clock is from the money bullet, the cluster to the right of that is the 360 gr creed moor style bullet.
Didn't get much to see with the Saeco, as I zero'ed it on the small gong then swung to the paper,, then the paper took off like a kite... Didn't get any pictures but it did look promising.

Couldn't help myself and shot this string with the 360 gr. bullet blow tube no wiping.. Think it would take pigs down in fine fashion?

Hey Ranch, That's good shootin'! And yesterday I shot my highest score on silhouettes using my CSA Highwall in .40/70, even getting two little medals and $10 in cash. The bullet I used was the RCBS .40-400-CSA over a compressed charge of OE 1 1/2F. Actually, I was using two different loadings, one with 65 grains and the other with 68 grains. I'm still a beginner at silhouettes and yesterday's score go me kicked up into the next class. Some doin's. Shoot sharp, Mike

Hey Don, It was more than that and I'll share my story. It's over an hour's drive from base camp to the range where the silhouette doin's are held. I usually eat a breakfast on the run while driving. And yesterday, instead of having my typical huge cup of coffee to wash down the biscuits, I had a large Coke. It's my opinion, and I'll stick to it until someone convinces me that I'm wrong, that Coke gave me the blood-sugar count I need for better eyesight. I saw targets clearer during yesterday's match than I have seen in a long time, so I'll be having Coke with breakfast again, probably on any day that I'm headed to the range or to a shoot. It was like someone had secretly focused my scope for me... What a difference too. Shoot sharp, Mike

Absolutely.. I carry those Starbucks Mocha bottles in my lunch bag when shooting the Nationals... seems to work pretty good.

Here's the first 2 rounds on the paper, they were at 2 o'clock out in the 6 ring, then we made the windage adjustment and dropped the next one at 5 in the 9 ring.. Then the wind turned the target into a kite. So no more paper shooting that day.
