Just about April

April is our snowiest month.

I would never have guessed that Don. At my house near the Wet Coast, snow is kind of rare but it can happen any time between November and March. Usually it just falls as rain. At the cabin, and my casting shack, winter starts in late October and is just ending now. We generally max out at around 3 or 4 feet on the ground at any given time. I like to go there when the rain gets to me :-).

Hopefully the slush and ice melts quickly for you. That can't make ranching easy I imagine.

That's the nice thing about April being the snowiest month of the year. It is usually warm enough that even 2 ft of snow won't last much over 3 days on the ground,, of course drifts are a different deal, but in general 4 days after things are back to dry and dusty.

I've seen those big wooden things you guys have on the highways to catch the drifts. They must be impressive to see when the wind blows on a snowy day :-)

On a windy day you'll be lucky to see them.... They do get impressive? to see this time of the year on a relatively calm day, if we've had a "normal" winter, they look somewhat like huge loaves of white bread.

We've been getting a few nice days, followed by a stretch of cold and miserable wind. Today is the first day in a very long time we haven't had winds in excess of 30 mph.

Hi all, I am in the middle of PA, so far this year it has been a mild winter, damp spring and a wicked fast summer. I took these this morning.
