It pays to clean the mole den

It was hard getting around in the mole den so I figured maybe I better clean it once LOL

Back in the late 70's I was heavy in the pistol bulls eye matches and small bore silhouette matches. I got a case of Remington .22 standard velocity target ammo. Well I put my match ammo in .30 cal metal ammo cans that have a good seal. Well cleaning the room under the bench was this heavy ammo can. When opened it I found 5 bricks of this old Rem .22 target ammo that I liked so much. and some old .22 ammo the Russions use for the Olympics.

Heck I see empty .22 shell boxes at collector shows that look worse then these brand new bricks do.

I also have two .45-70 factory boxes of Rem that I used in the 86 win for hunting with a $6.29 price tag on the box. LOL.

Wonder if they still shoot????????????

you better bring that 22 ammo out to the big hill next summer that way I can try it and see if it shoots in my rifle

Sounds to me like you need to get a set of the 22 bpcr targets and start having 22 matches..

Kurt, it's same with me. Lot's of brass, bullets and ammo packed away years ago and every time I find some of it it's just like Christmas! A few months ago I opened a ammo can and found .41 Long Colt from the last big factory run back in the early 80"s and 5 boxes of .41 rimfire from Navy Arms also from back in the day. I've got brass, dies and molds from cartridges I no longer have shooter's for. I really must post some of it in the "for sale" sections on a few forum's and unload some of my stuff. I have misplaced some of it due to a move and find new stuff all the time!

I been making guys at the range happy over the last few years with ammo and brass that is hard to come by now days. When I see them shoot one of the old hard to find calibers like the 22 fireball or the .22 rem jet I had quite a few cases an loaded stuff and gave it to them. It sure puts a smile on their faces. I have a lot of shells and brass I don't have a rifle for anymore or ever intend getting another so I been cleaning the basement giving it to the guys that shoot those calibers.
Last night I straightened the shelf I keep all the jacketed bullets on. .223 diameter, .224, .257, .358 and up to .410 some boxes of 100 have $3.89 and $6. something tags on them unopened.
The same goes for the 4895 and 4320 powder that is short in supply.

Kinda great to have stuff in reserve. When the next panic sets in I know I'll be able to keep shooting. Have helped out several club shooters during the last two panics and was glad to do so. I still had plenty for me to keep active.

So...how many things did you find that you couldn't find earlier and then replaced ???

Gussy, I have found most of my bullet molds and brass. Just can not quite locate some of my round ball molds and my new 44 77 Sharps brass. Still have enough balls to keep my flinter's shooting and the Hartford 44 77 is on order so I have a little time before things get desperate!

I was mucking out mine a few weeks back too. I found things I'd forgetten I even had. Also got rid of at least one or two things no longer needed. Mostly it just turned out to be relocating everything and finding new ways to compact the mess.
