I have never shot a spike bull before! I can tell you this was my toughest elk hunt! Very thankful this little guy called in to 20 yards! The sound of a ceder arrow that I built slipping in the rib cage never gets old.

RE: Archery season under way
Well with ambition to get my WY moose with my 44-77, my hunt ended early by tagging one with my bow (rifle season didn't start till Oct 1). The moose was about 200 yards from the truck. Being unseasonably warm, getting the moose out of the swamp was bearable, but not fun.
It was a long afternoon getting the moose out of the water and back to the truck.

In the end, I am one happy camper!!!! The moose offered me a clean stationary quartering away shot penetrating just behind the right shoulder coming to a stop on the left scapula. The bull traveled about 15 yards and dropped in a fast 10 seconds or so. My first moose.
