The .446 bullets shot fair from 800 yds. Winds were a bit twitchy. There's some promise shown here, but nothing I'ld load a batch and head for a target match with, but could sure ring a gong..

Got to looking at that target and if you throw out the 3 high shots, then count the other's that ends up being a low 80's with a couple of x's thrown in for fun.. Need to get back and run those again..

Dry! I wet patched for a few years but with the advent of my patching board it became much easier IMO than going the wet route and the accuracy is superb!

Rick, I can't wet patch the 8 lb paper, I end up tearing more patches in two than rolling on good. So I went to dry patching ..

Were you using the KW method of dampening the patches....using a sponge?? I never had a problem tearing the patches using his way!

No I found I got along better by sticking my finger in water and then swiping it along the patch.
With 9 lb. I would dampen a blue shop towel and lay the patches on half of it and fold the other half over the top of them.
But everything I tried with the 8 lb. was a bust.

I wet patch to groove for my 50-3 1/4 with 9lb onion skin and dry them on an electric stove burner because that's what works for it. The frt patch edge is tight and hard, when your punching them out at 1500+ you need a durable patch that still comes off the bullet just past the muzzle. For my 45 and 40 though I dry patch to bore ,only way to go on those 2. I recently kicked out some 420 gr at .442 and will dry patch them and run them thru a 3 groove Trapdoor , just to know if it would work. bobw

Those will work just fine in that trapdoor. .444 might be a touch better, but then you need to be thinking about the 8lb, as 9lb will give the occasional flier. Have ran both thru a trapdoor, those things are especially fond of patched bullets.
