Don, I don't know what your thinking, but if you need a place I may be able to help. I have a range here but you have to shoot towards the east. Depending on the size of the event, it could probably happen here. Let me know if I can help, never done this before but I'm dumb enough to at least volunteer to help out. Steve

RE: Memorial day sillouette match
Speaking of Wyoming rifle matches, does anyone know the cause of demise of all the Wyoming Schuetzen Union matches that used to be held in Cody, WY?
I attended the old style NRC string measure matches (National Rifle Club) there in '09, and they were very serious target rifle matches. Not only did one need to shoot tight groups, but they had to be in the middle; shortest string measure wins. I finished about 8th from the bottom, and felt fortunate to do that well.
Anyway, just curious.
Regards
IR

RE: Memorial day sillouette match
I'll make a point to call Cody. It all seems like a good idea. I've had events here for the last two summers. Mostly a chance for guys to shoot long range with cast bullets. Virtually all shoot lever actions. Then I adopted a Shiloh, so my world has taken a change of course. In any case, we haven't competed just enjoyed shooting. The first year the long target was at 800 yards and this year the target was 1000 yards. The bulk of the range is loosely what the Quigley is. You would think that with all of Wyoming to work with I could orient a range to the north, but no. The only safe direction is from the west to the east. I'll visit with Cody, and I need to meet Travis anyway. Steve

IR As I understand it, the Schuetzen bunch and the powers that be over the range at Cody reached an impass over a couple of issues, so the Schuetzen there has pretty much ended for the time being.
