The shooting experience after the sight is installed takes some time to get used to seeing/aquiring the target thru the buckhorn sight. For my own experience, I shoot at life-size targets of the animal I intend to hunt, setting it at different distances from the rifle. My 45-90 rifle will place 5 shots into 4" at 200 yards when fired from a sitting position on the ground.

The Smith sight is a good one for open-sight hunting,

Hello Jim,

thx for your advise
i was shooting on Silhoutte or Animal Targets instead as of the normal round.
Unfortunately i do not hunt and it is not common to hunt with the BPCR here in Germany.
I would like the sight for target practice because i like the open much more as aperture sights.
By the way i was searching at the Shilo forum and think about i found a picture of yours and your 45-90 Roller. Orville posted this for some times ago.
Kodiak-1 Antelope -0 Smile

kind regards
