We have 4 different rifles with barrels from 24-30 inches, all different makes. It still boils down to using the ammunition the individual rifle likes.
I think the ideal 22bpcr rifle would be one that fit like a glove and pointed like an extension of your hand for shooting offhand. Just about any rifle barrel length weight or contour will work for the lay down animals, but the icing is put on the cake time after time on the chickens. Figure out a rifle you can shoot 5+ chickens, and there will be few matches you loose if, your spotter and the windgods are on the same page for the other 3 banks.
