rear sight question

RE: rear sight question
I have that sight on one of my rifles. Mine id the 107 long range and the 108 mid range is a shorter version and when you tighten the eye cup you canot turn the lead screw to raise or lower the cup.
This sight takes a different cup that has a longer thread and it seats against the staff and lockes the sight so you cant bump the lead screw and change the setting. If you get a Hadley for it you have to order it for the 107 or 108 sight so it lockers the adjustment.
No washers for this sight.

RE: rear sight question
Kurt is correct. The sight you have requires a specific eyecup that will lock the sight. Call MVA...

RE: rear sight question
my sight is an origional style sold by axtel that they used 32 years ago. it has a dove tail slot in the rear of the elevator that is separate from the elevation block. there is no provision on this sight to lock the eyecup to the elevator, it was sold by C.sharps when they were the Mt. distributor of the rifles.(pre bryan,) Axtel claimed it was dead nuts on reproduction , for the sharps mid range vernier. Tom was like that, I do not know what cheney has but there are sights out there that do not need or have the ability to lock the elevation,
I was under the impression that this sight was used on the Quigley model and was the go to sight in those days ,but memories dim and such . so they may change ,, he just needs to verify that he has a locking sight or not,
probably should take a closeup of the side of the sight before determining just what he has ,

RE: rear sight question
I will take up close pictures on Monday and post them, I am at the conclusion that the horizontal on my rear sight purchased from Shiloh does not have a positive lock

RE: rear sight question
IIRC, you said you bought the rifle with the std. MVA eyecup and later bought the Hadley. Correct??
If, so. Go put the std. OEM eyecup back on at try it.
Also compare the treaded shafts on the 2 eyecups to see IF they are the same.
