RE: Got the barrel
Mr. McDowell
You WILL like the .44/2.4. for sil.
Rebarreled a C.Sharps HiWall with a GM #4 @ 28",a couple of years back.
Swiss 1 1/2,DGL lubed felt wad & 500+gr. Bommers Snover nose. Shoots slightly over 1 MOA @ 300 when I do my part on a good day.
Sure would like to be able to see like I did 25 yrs. ago.
Good Luck

Bob I think it will make a pretty decent long range gun. Watched a couple of those 44 straights this past year at Byers and Raton, and really liked what I saw.
I had BACO adapt one of their bullets for me, ended up they have it listed as the 434470, and it works pretty well in the 44-77, but I bet with this faster twist and a wee bit more horsepower it should really do well.

Gary it was either rebarrel or just let it set in the safe. I think I'll go to work and take the cheek piece down or maybe off. Then may try a bit of reshaping on the pistol grip.

RE: Got the barrel
Oregon Barrel Co. is not a big company or a household name but I have heard good things of them.
I do not live in the middle of nowhere, but I can see the edge of it from here.

Most of what I tell you is true and the rest, well the rest is the West.

RE: Got the barrel
Brownie I have heard good things about their muzzleloader barrels. The insides of this barrel look pretty good to my naked eye. A cleaning patch on a jag just went sliding thru with no problems.
So now all we need do is get it on a rifle and see what the target tells us.

Naw the chain on the little saw is to dull, and I don't think I can hold the big saw close enough. Smile

RE: Got the barrel
Bob it's 438x448, 32 inches heavy round taper, and I can't remember what twist I ordered but it's either 16 or 17.
