RE: Salvaging -purifying mixed alloys ?
Lead molecules will only adhere so much tin, or other metals. There are ways to refine it by making slurs like refining gold or other precious metals something you can't do in a lead pot by just fluxing or skimming. You can get some of the excess out but far from all of it.
The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

RE: Salvaging -purifying mixed alloys ?
I have used some mixed, crystaline looking metal that I softened as much as I could with reasonably pure lead and it worked ok if I was careful with my casting. Not sure I shoot well enough to tell the difference but don't think I have missed any targets because of the alloy. High velocity smokeless paper patch bullets for target work don't seem to care what they are cast of as long as the mould fills out. Don't want them too brittle for game though.
