Jeeze Louise!
I fooled around and leaded my new Shiloh Roughrider shooting greasers in this hot weather. After getting the lead out, I decided to run some paper patched rounds through it to make sure all the lead was out.
I loaded 44 rounds of a 507 grain round nosed flat base bullet patched up to .447 over 69 grains of KIK 2f . I fired 14 rounds without using a blow tube or wiping, and the gun was HOT when I quit. No lead, and the last 5 shots on a freshly painted gong at 410 yards resulted in one of the best groups I have ever shot at that distance. One bullet splat, you can see the imprints of three of the five shots--the other two vanished in the lead smear. Center to center, as near as I can tell, the group goes exactly one inch. The group is still on the gong, and as soon as it cools off from the 102 degree temperature, I'm going down range and take a picture of it.
Sometimes I wonder why I fool with anything else. The gun cleaned up with four patches.

RE: Jeeze Louise!
I just started paper patch rdnck, i can honestly say "i understand" ---------the folks here really helped me figure out where to begin. Imediately shot groups as well as my match grease groove load with the same ease of clean-up you just discribed, really satisfying!!
Its just to D*&% hot to have any fun shootin around here @ 100 degree's plus

With the heat your hav'n there. Couldn't you just stand the rifle on it's muzzle out in the Sun, and let the molten lead just run out the barrel.
Gary
Hav'n you along, is like losing two good men.....

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together that works??
The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

I don't know that it was a plan that came together as much as an act of desperation that got me back on track. The interesting thing is that this gun didn't shoot paper patched bullets as well as it did greasers before it went haywire. This is the first time I have shot it at 410 yards as I have been shooting the ram at 500 before today.
This is the best 5 shot group I have shot at this distance to date with any load or bullet.

Wow!
Is that your special twist 30" bbl business rifle?
I would have that hunting machine put in the grave along side me if i owned that rifle.
Nice shooting. Most of us can only dream of stuff like that.
