RE: Small rifle primer adapters
First test of 10 shot string.
100 yds left wind 21 gust 35 Seemed like more intensity in the gusts than previous tests.
two damp patches followed by bore mop

I moved everything to better anchor the target.

shots 2 and 3 were 3" to the left of the fouler and shot 4.
While shooting shot 5 I noticed that the table was rocking slightly from the wind. ( I had moved from a hard level surface to a soft surface.)

After getting the bench steadied, shots 6 thru 10 went into a group 1 1/4 V X 1" H.

Altho it was an ugly test, it confirmed that the load would hold up thru 10 rounds.

Brian, thank you for the link.
You may want to try a coffee filter wad at the bottom of the case.
Both of my Shiloh's seem to like that, and the crono sez the ES is lower also. I too use Br2's
Where are you testing? At the "Q" range??
Gary
Hav'n you along, is like losing two good men.....

No I'm about 100 miles away working. (well maybe "playing" would be more appropriate)

RE: Small rifle primer adapters
Took my load to 300 yds the other day. results were horrible, but it wasn't the load's fault.
I couldn't see my front sight. (took the scope off for the rest of my testing.)
Figured it was just because of the sagebrush and fence corner in the background cluttering up the target. (3' X 5' white target with black bull) So I moved it a ways to get more green grass background. Still couldn't see the front sight. If I held just right, I could see where the top of the aperture cut the top corners of the target so I shot them that way. Respectable open hand size 10 shot group.

After I got back, I dug out my other sights (AMT) and found that this sight card had much thinner sights than my other sights. So hopefully the thicker one will let me see the front sight better.

Always wondered about those really thick ones one see in the catalogs. Now I know why they sell them.

Has anyone used flat black spray or something to thicken up the sights?

Semtav, have you tried using two inserts in your front sight? I use this trick sometimes with my Lee Shaver front sights. I don't remember where I heard this trick, but it can work well.

Chris.

Hey, I never thought of that, I'll put the next bigger in and give it a try.
I went out and checked the thicker one and it did work better, but I think I better schedule that eye appointment that was due a couple months ago. seems I'm having a little trouble getting the front sight to focus without straining a little.

Thanks for the tip
Brian

Well I thought that would cure it. Guess I was wrong.
Seems that when one shoots shiny white targets in the middle of the day with the sun behind you it washes out the front aperture. I could see the front sight fine until I centered it on the target, then the sight would just disappear.

If a hooded sight doesn't help, I'll have to repaint the target black.

RE: Small rifle primer adapters
Brian, I've had the same problem w/ glare using white paper targets w/ full sun shining on them. I started making targets from tan wrapping paper, and spray paint whatever size and color of bull on it that I want. No glare and the spray painted works sorta like shoot n' see targets; much easier to see bullet holes and center up a front aperture on the bullseye. Smile
