Shooting Positions other than Offhand
Am pretty sure that stools are allowed (no way can I shoot prone or sit on the ground). However, someone tried to tell me it cant be over 11 inches tall. Okay, I might can manage but they also said the stool can't have a back. Is this an across the board rule at most or all matches?

I wonder who told him that. He must use a 11" stool and don't want anyone's head above his Big Grin
Your stool can't have a back rest on it

Not sure of the 11 inch height, had not heard that before, but it can't have back or arm rests. There are even some non NRA matches that allow for a bench rest class.

Thanks! So would this be standard for something like Quigley as well?

PiQuigley is a private shoot ,like all non NRA affiliated matches you can use anything they will let you use. I built mine for a 22 cal buffalo herd shoot because a lot of our members cant get down on the ground and I thought if I'm going to build a set or shooting off a stool ,I might as well make it legal in case It gets used at a sanctioned match. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

That will eliminate the three legged stools Cabela's and others sell as well as 3 and 5 gallon buckets. I guess maybe a 10# mall will drive the legs in the ground like the 3" spikes on the sticks.

Another nail in the coffin for sanctioned NRA matches. I bet the knot head that came up with 11" never shot a long range match sitting that has chronic back pains or knee issues.

Smile if the rule comity would really make it a fair playing field they should eliminate the sticks for the prone shooters and make them shoot prone military stile without a sling if they think a shooter shooting off a stool of any hight has an advantage over a prone shooter. If I still could shoot prone I sure as hell would not sit on a stool. Shooting prone off sticks is just about as steady as using a lead sled shooting off a bench.
I have asked some guys why they quit going to the Q or Alliance and they say you have to shoot sitting.

Actually I think that rule only applies in Silhouette. But as the NRA hasn't updated their rule books online, I can't say for sure. The 22bpcra adopted a similar rule .
