After that????? Do they make old Eynsford in Fg?

Kenny W

Yes they do Kenny. The old Goex exp was my powder of choice till it ran out. I use the 1F OE in my .50 and .44-90bn with good results with less compression then I used with the exp powder.
Seens like the OE favors low compression for all of the calibers I shoot. .240 +- a little holds pretty close.

I can't honestly say one is better than the other as I have done little or no comparison testing. When I switched to Swiss the big thing then was it's lot to lot consistency. I can't say that holds true anymore as this case I'm using is 3 grains less than the previous case. About that same time I acquired 17 lb. of very inexpensive Goex Express 3F and stumbled upon a very good chicken load so that is what I was using. That is until it ran out at the last match. So now I'm on a quest for a new chicken load and will try some of the Goex 3F I have first. Last summer at the 'Q' I picked up 3 lb. of Olde 'E' but have yet to give it a real test. By the time I got to Craig he only had part of a case left. I tried a bit of it and liked the results but as it's not available here so far it's a bit of a waste developing a load. I'll be there a lot quicker this year.

Paul

Paul call Craig well ahead of the Q, and tell him what you want. Then you don't have to worry about the crowd getting to him first.
Last time I visited with him he had some bags of 2f express.

Kenny keep in mind also that the Eynsford is sized/screened the same size as Swiss.
That may help some folks make a good try of the Eynsford if they are shooting Swiss.

I have not had as consistent loads with Goex as I have with Swiss. At one time, before using Swiss, I had a very good load using Goex Fg, but that has been used up a long time ago.

Keep on hav'n fun!

I use Goex due to the fact that it's all that is available here for the time being. I don't know if progress has been made on an Albertan distributor of Swiss.

I have enough FFg and FFFg Express to last me a while, and I use plain old Goex Fg in some rifles.

Paul, it is possible to get the new Goex OE powder here but it's a bit painful. Last time I talked with the distributor for Goex in B.C. He told me that he was finished with carrying inventory of anything other than standard Goex as it just didn't sell enough.

He did say that he'd bring in OE for me if I paid for it in advance, and the order had to be made when he resupplies from Goex, which I believe is about every 2 years on average.

When the last of my Express runs out I'll call him about the OE, or I'll drive to Alberta, assuming that Swiss is available there by then.

Chris.

My scores went up when I started shooting and selling Swiss.

Jim Kirkland has been good to me since Mick F.passed. I will be loyal to him as long as I can.

Best, Barvid

Gunlaker,

I'll keep that in mind and keep in touch as to the OE. I haven't talked to Clayton but I understand Mr. Kirkland is looking for an order of 100 cases to start a Canadian distributor of Swiss and that sounds reasonable to me until you do the math at this end. The cost of constructing a magazine that would meet the requirements for that much would be enormous. You'd have to turn that inventory several times just to pay for the magazine. Now compare that to how much is actually used here and you see the problem. The product for this Province was coming out of Ontario but when I asked our local re-seller about Olde 'E' he giggled and said that he had heard the guy was in jail. HuhHuh Don't know what for but that's not good news. Nobody said shooting the Holy Black would be easy. WinkWink

In my round ball bench rifles I use Schuetzen, it takes a bit more by volume than Goex, but it shoots fine and I have quite a bit of it. In my slugun, I have always used Goex, but I have found that I am not getting the consistency with the new lot that I got into this past fall and plan to try Eynsford in the spring. For BPCR I have always used Swiss. I've tried Goex and Schuetzen, but have not been able to find a load that shoots with antsy consistency.
