Hadn't loaded any smokeless cartridges in quite some time. So while I was watching the ice storm this afternoon, I decided to load some 30-30 ai's with the Hornady flextip bullet....
First thing I had to do was move all the patched bullets and the couple of flats of greasers over far enough I could get to my die box..Then I had to clear all the bullets and stuff off the top of my powder box... found the can of powder I wanted, got some once fired cases dug out,,, good lord those poor things look small.
Resized 5 charged them with powder, seated the bullet.. my gosh those things look small in that loading block for the 50 cal head sizes
But at any rate maybe tomorrow I'll let them 5 fly and see if they group at all.. Might just shoot 3 and run the other 2 over the chrono...
Need to get a smaller funnel since I modified this one so that bp wouldn't bridge in it so bad..

Ain't it the truth ,them bp rounds are truly Manley compared to modern smokeless rounds

My Daughter came over a week ago and shot up about 150 .357 rounds in my two S&W's. and the .45 judge I had to get them loaded again just incase she wants to shoot it the next time they come.
I had a hard time fumbling around with those small cases.

Kurt beings she is your daughter, it's time you did the dad thing and passed on some of you accumulated knowledge and teach her how to reload. Give her the mournful eye look and tell her you don't know how much time is left to you and you can't rest easy till she knows and can reload for herself, casting too. Probably won't even smell a rat until she has loaded several hundred 44-100's or 44-90 SBN's which only you shoot. That way you get more quality time with her and her hubby gets to pick up her slack at home for a change. bobw

You're right my time is getting short but right now my Daughters time is taken with Her two little 4 and 6 year olds. I have spent time with her and a lot of the way I do things are on 8mm tapes, CD's and DVD' plus hard copies. She has a good base because she has been helping me load since she was able to walk She was a big help back then
